BREAKING NEWS:  Fast Response Cutters - Key West Bound!


Over the past 24 months,  the U.S. Coast Guard has commissioned three of the six new Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutters to be homeported in Key West.  The first of these cutters, the CGC CHARLES DAVID JR, was commissioned at sunset on Saturday, 16 November 2013, the second CGC CHARLES SEXTON on March 8, 2014, the CGC KATHLEEN MOORE on May 10th, the CGC RAYMOND EVANS on 6 September 2014, and the latest CGC WILLIAM TRUMP on 24 January 2015 at US Coast Guard Sector Key West.  The CGC ISAAC MAYO will follow on 28 March 2015.  The Key West Navy League Commissioning Committee is supporting the commissionings through funding of activities traditionally associated with a commissioning, separate and apart from the U.S. Coast Guard.


What is it? 

The Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter (FRC) is a new Coast Guard patrol boat that is capable of deploying independently to conduct missions that include port, waterways and coastal security; fishery patrols; search and rescue; and national defense. Provided by USCG
